LDC IV Monitor’s Event at Antalya

    Concept Note | Programme Agenda

    The LDC IV Monitor is organising a special event at the sidelines of the upcoming three-day High-level Midterm review (MTR) of the Istanbul Programme of Action (IPoA), to be held on 27-29 May 2016, in Antalya, Turkey.

    The side event, viz. Mid-term Review of IPoA: Tracking Progress and Accelerating Transformation will review the recent development experience of LDCs and examine the implementation status of selected commitments of the IPoA. More concretely, it will:

    • evaluate the progress to date of individual LDCs since the adoption of the IPoA, specifically in the areas of structural transformation and inclusive growth in their economies;
    • assess how far the IPoA commitments have been delivered, with a view to investigating the extent to which they have expedited development in LDCs and graduation from LDC status, including the post-graduation period; and
    • explore further prospects in the light of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

    It is expected that the side event will infuse independent, impartial and fresh perspectives to the implementation of IPoA in the context of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and improve awareness of policymakers, practitioners and relevant experts about the developmental challenges facing LDCs and progress of the IPoA delivery.
